lesbidar:

what really made no sense about the way anya jenkins was written is that her most developed relationships were with men (xander, giles, and spike) despite that she carried a personal vendetta against men for over a thousand years. like. it kinda feels as if the writers decided to scrap the whole backstory of Anya Avenges Women in favour of more two-dimensional humour – as if she can’t do both.

anya’s relationship with willow – which was interesting in s3 because it came from a shared knowledge about magic – was scrapped in favour of Catty Girls Fight Over A Boy. and her relationships with buffy, tara, and dawn? almost completely undeveloped, despite the vast potential there. it still hurts my heart that anya could have been so much more than she was allowed to be.
